These sets can be combined or used individually to form a shelter, a garment, or any one of several immediate-use configurations. The sleeping bags of the system feature a head opening and can be worn in the same configurations as the poncho. When rolled and Compressed the two sleeping bags of the system can fit inside the new USMC MOLLE II Sleep System Carrier while the poncho/shelter can be lashed onto the outside of the Sleep System Carrier. The sleeping bags are made by Wiggy's and contain Lamalite insulation. Lamalite is an unbonded, silicone treated continuos filament fiber which is laminated to the lining of the sleeping bag via a proprietary process. This process negates the need to quilt the materials together, thereby using less insulation in each bag. Lamilite is a synthetic with all the qualities of down, but with none of the disadvantages.
